As Bazan said, he spotted the great and benevolent Oprah, chilling in her limo in front of New York's Soho House hotel, and, perhaps recognizing that a TV billionaire may have a few bucks to spare, he approached the car.

The gambit didn't work on the first try, as Bazan said Oprah told him she had no money, going on to show him her empty purse, Great Depression hobo-style.
But Bazan wouldn't back down, and tried a different tactic: a joke. Here's the gag he tried out on Oprah:
