U.S. Stocks Turn Slightly Higher

The S&P 500 and NYSE composite rose 0.4% each. The Nasdaq and Dow were trading barely higher. Volume rose 12% on the NYSE and fell 14% on the Nasdaq vs. the same period Thursday.

Ezcorp (EZPW) zoomed 8% in massive trade. The operator of pawnshops and payday loan stores smashed third-quarter estimates, sending the stock to a 52-week high. Earnings per share rose 33%, the fourth quarter in a row in which earnings grew faster than 25%. Sales jumped 20%, the biggest increase in three quarters. On a weekly chart, you can see a massive breakout (started Wednesday) past a 22.05 buy point.

Deckers Outdoor (DECK) gained 5% in more than twice its average volume. The maker of Ugg boots and Teva sandals also notched a new high. Revenue growth has swelled to 22% from 13% in the past five quarters.

CF Industries (CF) also advanced 6% in brisk turnover. The fertilizer maker marked a new high of its own. Revenue growth has ramped up to triple digits, but quarterly earnings growth has been spottier.
